Committed to diversity and growth, the Federal Government is actively involved in minority outreach efforts throughout the country. As a result of these efforts, the cultural composition of the Federal Government worforce is ever evolving. The following statistics are from a 2004 report conducted by a 3rd party organization.
The Federal Government's workforce is diverse:
- 17.6% African American
- 7.6% Hispanic
- 5.2% Asian/Pacific Islander
- 1.9% Native American
Minority employment in the Federal Government has increased by over 3% in the past decade.
Of the 14,109 senior positions within the Federal Government, minorities occupy 12.1% (1998).
In 2004, African American presence in the Federal Government was 75% greater than in the private sector.
Education levels vary as well:
- Less than 15% have a post graduate degree
- Less than 30% have a bachelor’s degree
- About 10% have an associate’s degree
- About 20% have completed some college
- About 20% have completed high school
